How cool is this? You are open to something that seems so mysterious, so woo woo. Yay!
When I talk about what I do, I still get people that say “What? Huh? Seriously?” Not everyone is open to it and that is ok.
Everyone is where they are at because they have something to learn from that place/situation before they can move forward in their development. Myself included.
We all use our energy in so may ways throughout the day. Think about the different things that happen through your day. What feelings or emotions are associated with those events? Happy feelings like when seeing a good friend or when someone lets you in as you need to change lanes. Angry feelings when you get cut off on the road or get criticized by your spouse, boss or co-worker. Start noticing how you FEEL this in your body. What does it feel like?
Emotions and feelings carry energy, they are energy. Our nervous systems are designed to move and carry energy. Think about this very carefully- would you rather be happy or angry? Simple question. Nothing to judge here, just notice what comes up for you.
Maybe it is “What a stupid question!” or “Duh, of course I would rather be happy.” Have you actually ever sat down and asked yourself this though? Mostly we trudge through our day expecting something better to happen and get frustrated when it doesn’t. Huh. What is the definition of insanity again?
Ok, so now you may start to realize that you actually can choose. You can start to choose to be happy. Life happens and things don’t go our way frequently. But, you can choose how to respond. This may take a lot of work but is so worth it. You cannot control someone else and their behavior but you can learn to control your own. Let’s go back to the emotions and energy.
How can you capture more of the good stuff? Think of how you feel when you see the cutest, freaking fuzzy little puppy. Now think of how you feel when you see someone who “makes” you angry, belittles you or puts you or your ideas down. Puppy. Bully. Puppy. Bully. What do you notice? How does it feel? What is the difference? Which would you rather feel?
Don’t get me wrong, you will still feel the icky stuff. You will still feel other people’s icky stuff too (which we already do but don’t realize that the nasty thing may not be ours). The main difference initially is going to be that the icky isn’t as icky. It doesn’t affect you in the same way, isn’t as strong and doesn’t last as long. This is hugely important. Accept that the icky is still going to happen but it won’t hit you as hard. From here you can create something different, something awesome.
Ok, now for something super fun and easy- a little experiment! You are going to need these things:
Let’s start with the hot thing. Heat it up and set it in front of you. Place your hands on either side of the mug, about 5 inches away from it. What do you feel? Maybe you are too far away? Move in an inch. Do you feel something yet? Another inch. Now you are feeling some warmth I bet. Closer. Oh yeah. Still warm but not hot. Closer. Getting warmer. All the way in now and hold the mug. Hot! The heat from the mug is radiating outward from it’s center. As you get closer you can feel a greater intensity, greater warmth, more energy. This is awesome, now let’s try the cold side.
Place your cold object on the surface in front of you and place your hands about 5 inches away. What do you feel? Maybe you are too far away? Move in an inch. Do you feel something yet? Another inch. Now you are feeling some warmth I bet. Closer. Oh yeah. Still cool but not cold. Closer. Getting cooler. All the way in now and hold the ice cube. Cold! Just as the heat from the hot mug radiated outward, you can feel the coolness from the frozen item more as you get closer. Hmmmm…
Another little experiment, once your hands warm back up of course! Just sit for a minute and stare at your hands. Look at the fingers, the lines running through the palms. How amazing are your hands? What are you able to do because of these amazing things? Now rub your palms together for a few seconds. Notice anything? Hold your hands about a foot apart and look back and forth between them. Do you feel anything, notice anything? Now, quickly and firmly clap your hands once- bam! What do you feel now? Move your hands in and out from each other immediately afterwards, does the sensation change? Yep, I knew you could feel that.
You can practice these things and more. What else can you do and notice as you move throughout your day? When you shake hands with or hug a friend. When you feel criticized. What does that energy feel like? Try these experiments and throw in some different feelings- joy, fear, happiness, anger- and notice what you notice. Too cool.
My mission is to help people be aware of this energy, and use it to strengthen themselves. One of the greatest sources of energy in my life comes from my dog, Indigo.
If you have a dog, I’d recommend doing one last experiment.
Just like you felt the energy you felt with the hot and cold, I’d like you to try feeling the energy that your dog gives to you.
Hold your dog close at the end of the day, and share your energy with them. Together, you can form a bond that will allow you both to heal more completely at the end of each day. This will empower you to take on the next.
Be back soon with some more cool stuff!
